1.) Concentrate on the entire frame

2.) Avoid using digital zoom
Most mobile phones available today make use of the digital zoom feature in order to reduce the bulk of the phone. When you use a digital zoom the pixels are enlarged using the camera's hardware which will degrade your image quality.
3.) Study the light source
It is a known fact that the best images are produced with the light source is falling on the subject and not behind him. Camera mobiles are equipped with the best of flashes and won't be able to produce bright images if the light source is behind the subject. So always make sure that take a position where the light falls on the subject.
4.) Avoid snapping pictures in low light
Most camera mobiles automatically increase/decrease their shutter speed based on the light factor. Taking pictures under dim lighting conditions may slow down the shutter speed resulting in washed out images. So make sure there is plenty of light around to ensure a faster shutter speed resulting in better images.
5.) Ensure proper white balance and brightness levels
Adjusting white balance can help you ensure that colors are captured accurately under any lighting conditions. To adjust the white balance of your camera mobile, just try to view a white paper/material through your viewfinder. If the picture looks off color, try and adjust the settings until it turns close to white. Not try to capture the image to see the difference.
Same as white color adjustment, adjusting brightness also plays an important role, in ensuring your images have a natural look. Try and adjust brightness by looking at the subject through the viewfinder, unless you feel the colors are natural.
Irrespective of the above mentioned tips, a lot depends on the lens quality of the camera mobile. So do keep that in mind as well
